Schaetzle provides Plan Commission update to Bourbon Town Council
BOURBON — Susie Schaetzle, Bourbon Building Commissioner & Zoning Enforcement Officer, updated the Bourbon Town Council that the Plan Commission is working on updating the current ordinance book.
Schaetzle also informed the Council that there have been questions, cares and concerns expressed regarding J&J Quality Meats regarding a camper on location.
New to the position, Schaetzle referred to attorney alex Hoover for more details.
Hoover updated the Council that the County has been involved in the issue and that he has had numerous discussions with Clerk-treasurer Kim Berger regarding the issue.
Schaetzle requested that the Council approve that Hoover take action as a camper being used as a residence on the property is a clear violation - the camper and business is located within the two mile zone.
Vice President Les Mcfarland asked if the owners were notified verbally.
Berger confirmed that former Bourbon Building Commissioner & Zoning Enforcement Officer Chuck Dewitt had provided notification.
President Ward Byers confirmed that the Marshall County Health Department has also had some involvement.
Berger noted that sewage in the creek and other violations were observed.
The issue has been unresolved since a search has begun for Dewitt’s replacement.
Mcfarland said that since communication has been made regarding the issue a letter by Hoover should be sent.
Mcfarland recommended that Schaetzle obtain photos as well.
Berger said there are photos on a thumb drive as well.
Schaetzle also informed the Council that the Board of Zoning appeals held a public hearing and provided positive feedback on how the board it was handled.
