Napier announces 2024 Candidacy for Marshall Superior 1

The Tami Napier for Judge Committee is pleased to announce that Tami Napier will be filing her candidacy to fill the 2024 vacancy in Marshall Superior 1. Napier has been the Marshall County Chief Deputy Prosecutor for nine years.

Napier has been an attorney for more than twenty years. She has been a defense attorney and a prosecutor in her career trying more than 150 jury trials in both state and federal courts. She will utilize her extensive experience as a trial lawyer in both civil and criminal practice in a new role as a judge serving Marshall County.

My father was career U.S. Army so I was born in Indianapol­is at Ft. Harrison. Growing up, we lived in Germany and then stationed back at Ft. Harrison until my dad retired. Therefore, I grew up in Indianapol­is.

I got married and raised four kids all while I completed my Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University. I then graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law.

I have been a practicing lawyer for over 23 years. My experience as an attorney has included both civil and criminal practice. I have been a defense attorney and a prosecutor. I have tried more than 150 jury trials and countless bench trials in state and federal courts while representi­ng the State of Indiana or clients.

Profession­ally, I have been appointed to several statewide boards, such as the Complex Litigation Committee and Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse Board, providing statewide guidance to other lawyers. I train prosecutor­s statewide several times a year on topics ranging from the Rules of Evidence to Trial Advocacy. Locally, I am on the Marshall County Humane Society Board. I speak every year in Marshall County schools about Anti-bullying, Teen Dating Violence and Online Safety. I am also very active in the Marshall County Republican Party. I am a member of the Indiana State Bar and the Marshall County Bar Associatio­n. I am also admitted to practice in the Northern and Southern District Courts federal courts in Indiana.

I moved to Marshall County in 2014 when I was appointed as Chief Deputy Prosecutor by Nelson Chipman.

In my personal life I enjoy hiking, biking, reading and spending time with family and friends. Traveling is also a favorite hobby of mine.
