Shaun M. Baniewicz

KOONTZ LAKE – Shaun M. Baniewicz passed away suddenly on Monday, April 15, 2024 at his home. He was born on Aug. 14, 1990 in Chicago and was 33 years-old at the time of his death.

Shaun lived in the area most of his life and was a Master Certified Technician for Auto Park in Plymouth. On July 1, 2021 in Plymouth, he married the love of his life Alaina, who survives. He graduated from Oregondavi­s High School, Class of 2009. He then earned his associate degree in automobile technology from Vincennes University in 2011. Shaun attended the United Church of the Brethren and was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed basketball, golf, and motorsport­s. He was an adventurou­s person who enjoyed the simple things in life including spending time with his family and friends. Most of all he was a proud family man who loved his family dearly, especially his two boys who were truly his world.

He is survived by his wife Alaina of Koontz Lake; two sons Myles and Maddox Baniewicz of Koontz Lake; his father Stephen Baniewicz of Koontz Lake; two sisters Patti Baniewicz (her children Jasmine and Madison) and Tina Baniewicz all of Koontz Lake; and one brother Greg Baniewicz of Koontz Lake. He is preceded in death by his mother Eileen (Albrecht) Baniewicz.

It was Shaun’s desire to be cremated, which has taken place. There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. EDT on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. EDT also on Saturday, April 20 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributi­ons be made in Shaun’s memory to the Catholic Charities of Chicago.
