Michael D Burroughs Marshall County Commissioner, District 2
I am a graduate of Argos High School, Ball State University, and the Graduate School of Banking. I am a lifelong resident of Marshall County and own property in both Plymouth and Argos. My resume includes teaching, Real Estate, Banking, and Manufacturing.
I have been married to Sandy Burroughs for 45 years. We have two married children with two grandchildren.
I have served as president of the Blueberry Festival, Optimist club, and participated with the United Way fundraisers. I have also been involved with the Marshall County Community Foundation and the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.
As a member of Plymouth Trinity United Methodist Church since 1980, I have served as the worship leader, the servant council chair, and sing in the chancel choir.
After being elected in 2020, it was my goal to make the meetings more transparent to the public, so I worked with IT to bring the Commissioner meetings online via live stream. I have published a summary of the Commissioner meetings on my Facebook page to allow people to read the events of the meeting. We have seen the courthouse renovated and restored, permanent housing built for the Marshall County Coroner, and the improvement of our county roads.
Since being elected, I have been a member of the MACOG policy board, the unsafe building committee, the US 30 coalition, and the COOP advisory committee. I have recently been appointed to the One Marshall County Board and the Regional Transportation Safety Action Plan Task Force. I have voted for ARPA funds to be used for Countywide broadband, a walk-in cooler/freezer for the Neighborhood Center, and a security system for Marshall Starke DC & Headstart.
It is my goal to be Fair, Honest, and Open and I humbly ask for your vote on May 7.
