PLYMOUTH – Hilda M. Bowman, 96, received her ticket to heaven on April 25, 2024. Born on July 26, 1927 in Plymouth, she was the daughter of Robert “Clifford” Lamborn and Gertrude C. Wiseley.

A lifetime resident of Plymouth, Hilda graduated from Plymouth High School in 1945. She would go on to marry Kenneth Bowman in South Bend on January 11, 1947. Together they created countless memories raising their children: Kent, Kitty, and Hal. After 56 years of marriage, Kenny preceded her in death in 2003.

Throughout the years, she worked in the cafeteria at Plymouth High School. She also helped with the 4-H Fair Accounting and helped her husband run a small engine repair shop, but she most enjoyed that she was a homemaker.

For many years, she and Kenny wandered in the Texas Valley where they enjoyed camping. She also liked to play cards and cribbage with her friends. In the summer, they would camp at Markley’s Wood with a group of close friends. Some of Hildas’ favorite memories were when her grandchildren would join them in those trips.

She is fondly remembered by her family for her outgoing, spunky personality; anyone who knew her also knew she didn’t know a stranger. Hilda had a caring heart and was a forgiving mother even with two boys in the house.

Hilda was a woman of strong faith being a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Hilda will be dearly missed by her children, Kent (Judy) Bowman and Hal (Karen) Bowman; grandchildren, Jerry (Michelle) Bowman and their children, Jake and Peyton, Shane Orr and his daughters, Olivia and Victoria, Kelly Garnand, Matt (Brooke) Garnand, Heather (Rhett) Roy and their children, Shelby and Brayden, and Heath (Quinn) Bowman and their children, Avery and Tate.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, Robert and Gertrude; daughter, Kitty Garnand; and siblings, Margaret Markley and Ralph Lamborn. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Johnson-danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563.
