Girls tennis sectionals set
INDIANAPOLIS — The pairings for the 49th annual high school girls tennis sectionals were announced Monday night by the Indiana High School Athletics Association (IHSAA). Local teams will compete at three different sectionals where the host schools are Culver Academy, South Bend Saint Joseph and Northwood.
Sectional play can begin as early as today statewide with most finals falling on Friday weather permitting. Exact times/days are posted on the IHSAA website.
CGA and Plymouth are the top-ranked teams in Sectionals 48, checking in at Nos. 2 and 6, respectively, in District 3 and face each other on Wednesday. Both won sectionals last year, but after the most recent shuffling by the IHSAA are in the same bracket this year. Northwood (No. 5 District 2) and Fairfield (No. 7 District 2) are the favorites in Sectional 63, with NW the defending champ. Bremen is likely to see Fairfield in the semifinals on Thursday. St. Joseph is currently ranked No. 1 in the state and will be heavy favorites in its section. Glenn received the bye and will likely face the Lady Huskies in the semifinals.
Culver Academy and Northwood will also host regionals. The SB St. Joseph Sectional feeds into the Laporte Regional. Regionals are May 21-22.
