Warren Car­ney Bain, 89, died peace­fully at his home on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 26, 2018. He was born on April 19, 1929, in Dinwiddie, Vir­ginia, to Pre­ston Car­ney and Eu­nice Hawkins Bain.

Dinwiddie was his life­time home. Warren served bravely and faith­fully in the United States Army dur­ing the Korean War. He was an avid farmer and greatly en­joyed fly­ing his plane, as well as trav­el­ing to the moun­tains and to Nags Head. Warren was ac­tive in his com­mu­nity as a long­time mem­ber of Le­banon United Methodist Church and Old Hick­ory Hunt Club. He was also former Com­man­der of Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 149.

Warren was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents; two broth­ers, Mal­com and Dur­wood; and two sis­ters, Gay and Janet. He is sur­vived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Bird­sall Bain; sons, Pre­ston (Donna) and Chip (Cindy); daugh­ter, Sara; eight grand­chil­dren; seven great-grand­chil­dren; and sis­ters, Gwen­dolyn Carter and Peggy Bain.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be con­ducted at 2 p.m. on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 29, 2018, at Smyrna Bap­tist Church. In­ter­ment will fol­low at the Bain Fam­ily Ceme­tery.
