Mrs. An­nette J. Wheat, 82, of Hopewell, Vir­ginia, went to rest with the Lord on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 28, 2018, at South­side Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter. She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Waverly Wheat Sr.; her father and mother, Solomon and Ruth John­son; and four broth­ers, Elmer, Robert, Ol­lie, and Sid­ney John­son.

An­nette was a life­long res­i­dent of Hopewell, VA, and at­tended Hopewell City Pub­lic Schools. She was a faith­ful em­ployee of John Ran­dolph Med­i­cal Cen­ter and re­tired with over 25 years of ded­i­cated ser­vice.

An­nette was a long­time mem­ber of First Bap­tist Church of City Point where she served faith­fully on var­i­ous min­istries in­clud­ing the Dea­coness Board un­til her health de­clined. She was a re­spected and com­mit­ted res­i­dent of both the City Point com­mu­nity and Kings Court where she served as a mem­ber of the Kings Court Neigh­bor­hood Watch As­so­ci­a­tion where all of her neigh­bors knew Mrs. Wheat by name.

An­nette leaves to cher­ish her me­mories; two daugh­ters, An­toinette Nes­bitt (An­driko) of Hopewell, VA, and Lisa Tay­lor (Mil­ton Sr.) of Prince Ge­orge, VA; two sons, Waverly Wheat Jr. of Peters­burg, VA, and An­thony Wheat (LaShawn) of Hopewell, VA; eight grand­chil­dren, Tif­fani Brown, Charon Nes­bitt, Mil­ton Tay­lor Jr. (Crys­tal), Michael Tay­lor, Mil­isa Tay­lor, Waverly Wheat III, War­ren Wheat, and Ashely Wheat; eleven great-grand­chil­dren; a brother, Solomon John­son Jr. (Mary) of Hopewell, VA; and sis­ter, She­lia John­son of Hopewell, VA; four sis­ters-in-law, Anna Lee Wheat of Hopewell, VA, Alease John­son of Hopewell, VA, Judy John­son of Prince Ge­orge, VA, and Olivia John­son of Wash­ing­ton, D.C.; an aunt Vi­ola Green of Hopewell, VA; and a host of neph­ews, nieces, cousins and other rel­a­tives and friends.

A Cel­e­bra­tion of Life will be held, 1:00 p.m. Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 5, 2018, at First Bap­tist Church City Point, Hopewell. In­tern­ment will fol­low in church ceme­tery.
