United Way campaign update
United Way of Hopewell-Prince George seek donations to help meet goal, needs of the community
HOPEWELL — United Way of Hopewell-Prince George held its final campaign committee report meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Rosa’s Italian Restaurant.
According to information released by the organization, total reports showed only 37 percent of the $225,000 goal at that time. Divisions meeting or exceeding their goals were: Associated Asphalt, Luminant Hopewell Cogeneration, WestRock, Virginia-American Water Co., Professionals/Lawyers, and Public Utilities.
The campaign will be extended until the end of the year. It was noted that some reports were still unavailable at the time of the meeting and other reports will come later in the spring from federated campaigns.
Campaign workers say the local United Way still needs the support of the community businesses, employees and retirees to meet their goal and the needs of the community. Anyone who has not been solicited or not sent a donation, is asked to consider what one donation to United Way can do.
An emailed statement from the United Way of Hopewell-Prince George reads, "these funds help provide food for the hungry shelter the abused, emergency assistance, educational programs, health services youth programs and more These programs depend on United Way support for local programs."
Donations may be mailed to United Way of HopewellPrince George, P.O. Box 394, Hopewell, VA 23860 or donations are accepted online at www.unitedwayofhpg.org .
