Sergeant First Class, Re­tired, Wil­liam B. Shan­non, 75, of Prince Ge­orge, passed away Fri­day, De­cem­ber 28, 2018. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Clarence and Rose Shan­non on Au­gust 30, 1943. SFC Shan­non proudly served in the United States Army for 29 years, tour­ing Viet­nam, Ger­many and Korea. He at­tended Fort Lee Catholic Memo­rial Chapel and en­joyed watch­ing box­ing, UFC and sports. He had a love for doo-wop and jazz, but above all loved his fam­ily. He was pre­ceded in death by his Un­cle Phil.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of 50 years, Lee Irene Shan­non; daugh­ters, Mary Davis (Der­rick) and Rose­mary Ray (Jef­frey); grand­chil­dren, Ju­liana M. Owens, Mia E. Davis and Mika R. Davis; brother, Bobby Shan­non (Joan­marie) and a host of nieces and neph­ews.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 10 a.m. on Mon­day, Jan­uary 7, 2019, at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Fu­neral Homes and Cre­ma­tory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Peters­burg, Vir­ginia 23805. In­ter­ment will fol­low in Vir­ginia Vet­er­ans Ceme­tery at Amelia at 12 p.m. On­line con­do­lences may be reg­is­tered at www. ealvins­mall.com.
