New Se­nior/Teen Idol open au­di­tions call

Ad­di­tional au­di­tions set for Thurs­day, April 19

CHESTER­FIELD — Ad­di­tional au­di­tions for Se­nior and Teen Idol of Chester­field, Greater Rich­mond and Tri-Cities ar­eas are be­ing held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thurs­day April 19, at Ch­ester Bap­tist Church, lo­cated at 4317 School St., Ch­ester. Reg­is­tra­tions will be taken at the door. This will be The Shep­herd’s Cen­ter of Chester­field’s eighth an­nual tal­ent com­pe­ti­tion fundrais­ing event.

Se­niors 50 years and older and teens 13-19 years old, who are en­ter­tain­ers, co­me­di­ans, dancers, ven­tril­o­quists, mu­si­cians, singers, or with unique tal­ents, are en­cour­aged to sign up for this friendly com­pe­ti­tion show­cas­ing the tal­ents of lo­cal se­niors and teens. Eight con­tes­tants will be cho­sen from each age group to com­pete in the fi­nal Se­nior & Teen Idol Com­pe­ti­tion event to be held Fri­day, May 4 at Vic­tory Taber­na­cle Church,11700 Gen­ito Road, Mid­loth­ian. The three top win­ners in each age group will win cash prizes ($300, $200 and $100 re­spec­tively). Teens will be given community vol­un­teer hours for their par­tic­i­pa­tion and the au­di­tion fee waived.

All pro­ceeds will ben­e­fit The Shep­herd’s Cen­ter of Chester­field, a non­profit or­ga­ni­za­tion of se­nior adult vol­un­teers, who do­nate their time and ex­per­tise to as­sist other se­nior adults with trans­porta­tion to crit­i­cal med­i­cal ap­point­ments, grocery shop­ping and help with mi­nor home re­pairs. The cen­ter also of­fers a va­ri­ety of classes dur­ing fall, win­ter and spring.
