Na­tive Plant So­ci­ety meet­ing is April 22

HEN­RICO — The pub­lic is in­vited to join the Poc­a­hon­tas Chap­ter of the Vir­ginia Na­tive Plant So­ci­ety on Sun­day, April 22, to look for Pink Lady’s Slip­pers in Hen­rico County’s Dorey Park (http:// hen­rico.us/rec/ places/dorey/. In ad­di­tion to these na­tive or­chids, par­tic­i­pants will have an op­por­tu­nity to iden­tify and learn about many other na­tive plants that grow in the park.

Any­one with an in­ter­est in Vir­ginia’s na­tive land­scape is wel­come, from novice to ex­pert.

The ap­prox­i­mately two-hour walk is free and open to the pub­lic, but reg­is­tra­tion is re­quested.

Wear sturdy wa­ter­proof shoes or boots and bring your own snacks and wa­ter.

The Poc­a­hon­tas Chap­ter serves the coun­ties of Amelia, Charles City, Ch­ester­field, Goochland, Hanover, Hen­rico, King Wil­liam, New Kent, Powhatan, Prince Ge­orge, and the cities of Colo­nial Heights, Hopewell, Peters­burg, and Rich­mond.
