Marie Thrailkill Smith, 95, of Colo­nial Heights, Vir­ginia, passed away Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 8, 2018. She was born in Wake County, North Carolina, to the late Normie and Elsie Thrailkill and was a mem­ber of Colo­nial Heights Pres­by­te­rian Church. She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Henry George “Hank” Smith III; brother, William J. Thrailkill; sis­ter, Doris T. Lemons; and son-in-law, Thomas B. Bolton. She is sur­vived by her daugh­ters Bonny S. Har­tle (Gary) of Ch­ester, and LeAnne S. Bolton of Colo­nial Heights; son, Henry G. Smith IV of Rich­mond; grand­sons, Fred­eric L. Bois­seau (Gin­ger), Joseph E. Bois­seau, Gary Har­tle, Jr. (Jackie), Earle Har­tle (Sandy); grand­daugh­ters, Han­nah B. Bolton, and Emma T. Bolton; seven great-grand­chil­dren; nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews; and two spe­cial cousins, Margie Boone and Lula Mae Bryant of Pitts­boro, North Carolina.

Marie worked in the Cir­cu­la­tion Depart­ment of the Progress In­dex for many years and worked as a Teach­ers Aide for Mount Pleas­ant Bap­tist Church Day­care for over 30 years. She al­ways looked for­ward to her an­nual fish­ing trips with her cousins, and loved bas­ket­ball, chil­dren, play­ing bridge, and the smell of gar­de­nias.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 11, 2018, at Colo­nial Heights Pres­by­te­rian Church, 211 Lynch­burg Av­enue, Colo­nial Heights, Vir­ginia 23834, fol­lowed by a fu­neral ser­vice at 12 p.m. with Rev­erend Gor­don Mapes III of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will re­main pri­vate. Ar­range­ments by the Colo­nial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Fu­neral Homes and Cre­ma­tory, 2033 Boule­vard, Colo­nial Heights, Vir­ginia, 23834.
