Charles Richard Horne Jr. passed away Novem­ber 2, 2018, in Cit­rus County, Florida, at the age of 79. “Chuck” was born on Fe­bru­ary 21, 1939, in Richmond, Vir­ginia. Fol­low­ing ser­vice in the Air Force, Chuck worked as an ad­juster for State Farm. He re­ceived a bach­e­lor’s de­gree from Vir­ginia Com­mon­wealth Uni­ver­sity and a master’s de­gree from Vir­ginia State Uni­ver­sity. He re­tired from the Colo­nial Heights School Sys­tem af­ter many years of teach­ing. Chuck was an avid sports­man who loved the out­doors and farm­ing at his home in Din­wid­die County, Vir­ginia. Upon his re­tire­ment to Florida, he spent his time with great friends, work­ing with real es­tate and at the Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 155. Chuck was pre­ceded in death by his fa­ther, Charles Richard Horne; and his mother, Mar­garet Gras­berger Horne.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife, Betty; his three chil­dren, Heather Deihls (Drew), Jami Davis (Lo­gan) and Charles Coons (Rhonda); his grand­chil­dren, Lil­lian, Brandon (Ash­ley), Me­gan and Ni­cholas; his sib­lings, Mary McAn­inch, Mar­garet Run­yan, James Horne (Anne), Jean Hart and Ken­neth Horne (Peggy); and many nieces, neph­ews and close fam­ily friends.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held 11 a.m. Fri­day, Novem­ber 9, 2018, at St. John Ne­po­mucene Catholic Church, 7310 Squir­rel Level Rd., North Din­wid­die, Va. 23805, with re­cep­tion to fol­low. Pri­vate in­ter­ment in For­est Lawn Ceme­tery, Richmond, Va. Ar­range­ments by Bliley’s-Cen­tral.
