Life is but a stop­ping place,

A pause in what’s to be,

A rest­ing place along the road,

To sweet eter­nity. On Novem­ber 2, 2018, God in his in­fi­nite wis­dom peace­fully called to eter­nal rest a quiet woman of courage, strength, and wis­dom, our beloved Jearline Gil­liam, 71 of 8508 Cole­man Lake Road, Ford, VA.

She was ed­u­cated in the Din­wid­die County Pub­lic School Sys­tem and at­tended South­side High School, the class of 1966. She was a for­mer em­ployee of Tit­mus Op­ti­cal, Peters­burg, VA, with 28 years of ser­vice and re­tired from the Nu­tri­tion De­part­ment of the Din­wid­die County Pub­lic School Sys­tem. She was cur­rently em­ployed part­time with The VA De­part­ment of Al­co­holic Bev­er­age Con­trol. Jearline was a mem­ber of Mount Level Bap­tist Church, Amelia, VA, but at­tended Mount Poole Bap­tist Church, Ford, and Olive Branch Bap­tist Church, Din­wid­die, VA.

She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents, Ca­pus and Ler­line Wor­sham; sis­ters, Carline Wor­sham and Lil­lian Bland; brother, Leon Wor­sham.

Jearline leaves to cher­ish fond mem­o­ries, a lov­ing hus­band of 51 years, James Ivory Gil­liam, Ford, VA; three de­voted daugh­ters, Amanda Gil­liam (Ge­orge), An­gelique S. Gil­liam and Melissa R. Gil­liam (Do­minick), all of North Din­wid­die; sis­ter, Ber­nice Brown (Jimmy, de­ceased), Richmond; brothers, Lloyd Wor­sham, North Ch­ester­field and James Wor­sham, Peters­burg.

Left also to mourn her loss are six grand­chil­dren, Brian, Shanique, Keith, Som­mer, Au­tumn and Do­minick; one great-grand­child, Wyn­ter; other rel­a­tives to in­clude sev­eral sis­ters-in-law and brothers-in-law; an un­cle, Hugo Wor­sham of North Carolina; a dear friend, Dorothy Mabry; and a host of nieces, neph­ews, friends, co-worker and for­mer co-work­ers too nu­mer­ous to name.

A homego­ing cel­e­bra­tion will be held on Fri­day, Novem­ber 9, 2018, at 12 Noon at the Mount Poole Bap­tist Church, Ford, Vir­ginia. Rev. Dr. Kevin N. Northam will be the of­fi­ci­at­ing min­is­ter. Burial will fol­low at the Din­wid­die Memo­rial Park.
