CHESTERFIELD -- Her high school field hockey is not over yet, but Ally Butler has already made her college commitment…

...and now she already has a First Team All-State selection to her name.

The Matoaca Field Hockey junior goalie last Wednesday made First Team on the Class 5 State Field Hockey team following a 9-4 season in 2018.

In 13 games played, Butler allowed seven goals, and she didn’t give up more than one goal in a game in the regular season. Butler was a part of a junior core of Warriors (Annie Grace Louthan, Morgan Mick, Anna Pletch and Jillian Pueppke among them) who not only elevated Matoaca Field Hockey to a winning season in rainplagued 2018, but also gave the program a record 14-2 regular season in 2017.

Morgan Merritt of Menchville High School was named the Class 5 State Field Hockey Player of the Year, and Robin Woodie of Stafford High School was named the

Class 5 State Field Hockey Coach of the Year.

Before the 2018 season reached its end, Butler committed to NCAA Division I Wake Forest.

Butler, who will be a senior for the 2019-2020 academic year, is among several experienced players expected back on the Matoaca Warriors in the 2019 fall season.
