On Satur­day evening, Jan­uary 5, 2019, our hearts were sad­dened by the loss of our cher­ished and beloved mother, sis­ter, aunt, grand­mother and friend, Ms. Betty E. Allen of 831 E. Eller­slie Av­enue, Colo­nial Heights Health Care Cen­ter.

She was born on Novem­ber 16, 1943, to the late Her­man A. (Farmville, VA) and Mary Lee Swann (Peters­burg, VA). She was pre­ceded in death by her son, Wil­liam Michael Swann; daugh­ter, Pamela Burch; grand­son, Leon Lyle; and her sis­ter, Delois Banks,

She was a prod­uct of Ch­ester­field County Pub­lic Schools, and a re­tiree from Fort Lee Quar­ter Master, Fort Lee, VA.

Betty af­fec­tion­ately known as “Boo Boo,” leaves to cher­ish her pre­cious mem­o­ries: three daugh­ters, Phyl­lis Swann of Colo­nial Heights, VA, Jan­ice Lyle of Peters­burg, VA, and Toni Swann Free­man of Ch­ester­field County, VA; six­teen grand­chil­dren, Stephanie Rollins of Hopewell, VA, Or­lando Swann of Peters­burg, VA, Michael Rollins of Hopewell, VA, Deb­o­rah Lyle of Peters­burg, VA, Steven Lyle of Ge­or­gia, Ty­war­ren Lyle (Nepatin­nie) and Travis Swann, both of Florida, Jerome Wells, Deonte Wells, (Tiquila), Philip Swann (Janeshia), and Jolanda Swann, all of Peters­burg, VA, Shawnte Wells of Al­abama, Jazmin Swann Lewis (Karl), Wil­liam Free­man III, Niyah Free­man, all of Ch­ester­field, VA, and Pa­tri­cia Rollins (La­mont) of Hopewell, VA; foster mother, Made­line Dodson of Ch­ester­field, VA; seven sib­lings, Mary Ann Allen, Irma Swann Camp­bell (Michael), Mar­garet Banks, Robert Banks (PW), Ron­nie Banks, Johnny Banks (Sharon), and Bobby Banks, all of Peters­burg, VA; de­voted niece, Rev. Dr. An­gel Allen; and a host of great and great-great grand­chil­dren, nieces, neph­ews, cousins, and de­voted friends among them: Ms. Barbara Rollins of Hopewell, VA, The “Red Hat Ladies” of Colo­nial Heights Health Care Cen­ter, Mrs. Hen­dricks, Mrs. Keifer, Mrs. Hersh, Mrs. Michael, Mrs. May­ton, Mrs. Mitchell, and Mrs. Tay­lor (Ly­dia and Terri).

The fam­ily would like to send their spe­cial thanks to the staff of the Colo­nial Heights Health Care Cen­ter and South­side Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter.

Betty was an in­te­gral part of her fam­ily cir­cle and will be truly missed.

Ser­vice will be held 11:00 A.M., Fri­day, Jan­uary 11, 2019, in the Chapel of J.M. Wilk­er­son Fu­neral Es­tab­lish­ment, Inc., 102 South Av­enue, Peters­burg, VA, the Rev. Dr. An­gel Allen, eu­lo­gist. In­ter­ment to fol­low at Wilk­er­son Me­mo­rial Ceme­tery.

The fam­ily will as­sem­ble 10:00 A.M. the day of the ser­vice and will also re­ceive friends at 209 Archer Av­enue, Apt. 1-C, Colo­nial Heights, VA.
