Generals squeak past Hopewell
Dinwiddie gets road win, 60-58, over Blue Devils
HOPEWELL – Dinwiddie Boys Basketball (6-5) went into away territory and came back with a 60-58 upset victory over defending regional champion Hopewell (9-3). The game opened to a firstquarter shootout after which the Blue Devils held a narrow two-point lead.
The Generals took command of the game in the third quarter when they outscored Hopewell 25-13 after facing a four-point deficit at halftime. Dinwiddie withstood Hopewell’s 16-point fourthquarter to hold out for the two-point win.
Jaylyn Jordan put in a monster performance for the Generals, leading his team with 20 points and 12 rebounds while Senior Clatrey Reese put up 15 points and Branden Green-Pulley totaled 7 assists.
Elvin Edmonds IV had another dominant game on the other side of the court for Hopewell. Edmonds hit 25 points and six three-pointers.
