Mr. Arthur Allen, 66, of 1285 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg, Va., passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019. He was born June 2, 1952.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa and Zollie Allen.

Joyce B. Atkins, 73, of Colonial Heights, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019. She was born to the late Linwood and Dorothy Brockwell on July 1, 1945.
She is survived by her children, Barton Atkins, and Angie Carpenter; grandson, Trever Weeks; brothers, Earl Brockwell (Annette), and Wayne Brockwell (Pam); numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime companion, Billy Shortt.

CLARENCE E. CLEMENTS
Clarence E. “Cutter” Clements passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of January 9, 2019. Cutter was born in Waverly, VA, on March 25, 1931. He was the son the late M.T. and Eva Clements.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, rides to the mountains, and woodworking. Cutter was proud of his service as a Paratrooper in the Korean War with the 187th Airborne Regimen, and was a longtime friend of the veterans having dedicated over 10,000 hours of volunteering with the VFW Post 2239 at the McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center. He is known and loved by many throughout Prince George County and the surrounding areas, for his many years as a builder.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Martha Daniel Clements and his special friend and longtime companion, Joyce Emmons.
Cutter is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including great nephew Mickey Clements and his son Chase of Prince George, VA, and his adopted in heart daughter and granddaughter, Carolyn and Allie Cullen of Prince George, VA.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd. Petersburg, VA 23805. Norma C. Halloway, 79, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. She was a longtime member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and retired from the Defense Supply Center of Richmond after 33 years of service. Mr. Bruce L. Jones, Jr., affectionately known as “BJ,” died suddenly on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. BJ was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Samuel and Nannie Sharpe; and paternal uncle, Franklin Lee Crockett.
BJ was born on August 26, 1985, in Petersburg, VA. He attended Dinwiddie County and Roanoke City Public Schools.
BJ leaves to cherish his memories to his only daughter, Makaela Jones-Terry of North Carolina; devoted and loving mother, Melissa L. Jones of Dinwiddie, VA; and father, Bruce L. William Green Johnston Jr., 70, of Disputanta departed this life on January 8, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, William G. Johnston, Sr.; mother, Mabel McGraw Johnston; sister, Joann Delores Johnston; and brother, Jesse Newton Johnston.
William served as a First Sergeant at Fort Lee, Virginia in the United States Army and after retiring from the military, worked at Crater Correctional Center.

Leon Jones, 73, died January 8, 2019, at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late James and Carrie Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Jones.
Leon enjoyed cooking, attending train shows, fishing and playing his guitar. In his early years he joined the Mount Level Baptist Church and later joined the Bethesda Church of Christ, where he attended faithfully until is health began to fail.

Rachel N. Jones, 59, of 21408 Hampton Avenue, South Chesterfield, VA, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2018, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. She was born in Sussex County, VA, on November 4, 1959, to the late Sam Jones and Lucille Massenburg-Jones.
Rachel was a graduate of Dinwiddie Senior High School and attended Virginia State University. She was a Customer Service Associate Specialist at General Dynamics. Her hobbies included: collecting artifact dolls and crystal, playing slots at the local casinos, caring for her dog, Ginger and hanging out with her best friend, Catherine Valentine Ginger.

Jayne Woolridge Loesch, 61, of Kitty Hawk, NC, formerly of Hopewell, VA, passed away December 23, 2018. Born in Hopewell, Jayne is preceded in death by her parents, Harold H. Woolridge, Jr. and Louise Bishop Woolridge; and son, Adam Tatum.
Jayne is survived by her husband, Lawrence F. Loesch; brother, Harold H. Woolridge; sister, Nancy W. Moore; twin sister, Jan Woolridge; sister-inlaw, Margaret A. Loesch; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and loving friends.
Jayne had the happiest outlook on life, a smile that warmed hearts, and an infectious laugh. Jayne loved to fish and was a proud member of the all-female fishing team, FISH TALES. Her 30+ year career in the restaurant industry gave her the opportunity to meet many wonderful people who became lifelong friends.
There will be a Celebration of Jayne's Life on Sunday, January 27, 2019, from 3pm 6pm in Kitty Hawk at the Black Pelican Restaurant, corner of Kitty Hawk Road and the Beach Road. Mrs. Ernestine Brown McEachin of 15501 Silvertree Lane, South Chesterfield, VA, was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at John Randolph Medical Center.
“Tine or Ms. E” as her family and closest friends affectionately called her, was born on October 2, 1954, to the late Deacon James H. Brown and Gaynell Jackson Brown. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Marie H. Brown; great aunt, Josephine O. Brown; sister-in-law, Emma Mae McEachin; and brother-in-law, James McEachin, Jr.
She is a graduate of Prince George County Public School and dedicated her life to taking care of her family, working hard and helping others. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her “grands.”
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband Shade McEachin Jr.; three children, Monique Jackson and Daisha McEachin, both of South Chesterfield, VA, and Shatae McEachin (RaShanda) of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Latia, Kendal, Kavari, RaNiya, Dayvon and Daviona; two brothers, James H. “Juny” Brown, Jr. (Mary) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Walter Brown (Judy) of Oklahoma City, OK; two sisters, Mary I. MILDRED T. PLEASANT
Mildred (Millie) Treaster Pleasant, 89, of Hopewell, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2019, after a brief illness. Millie was born on April 8, 1929, in Disputanta, Virginia. On September 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Thomas Samuel Pleasant, Jr. No matter whether she was called Mom, Nannie, or simply Millie she loved, listened, and laughed with all. She worked in the Hopewell Public School System for 20 years and was an active member and volunteer of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rebecca Treaster; her loving husband, (Junior) Tom Pleasant; daughter, Becky Yeratt; son, Tommy; daughterin-law, Brenda Houff Pleasant; and son-inlaw, Rick Griffith; eight sisters, Mary Mcclure, Dorothy Hufnal, Elizabeth Rodkey, Ada Pearson, Georgia Krick, Sarah Simmons, Gladys Browder, Charlotte Dudley; and four brothers, James, Buddy, Bobby and Clair Treaster.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Cathy Griffith; son-in-law, Percy Yeratt; grandchildren, Pamela Sue Witt (Skip), Christian Griffith (Stephanie), Nathaniel Griffith (Meghan), Chad Pleasant (Lindsey); great grandchildren, Jacob, Reagan, Lincoln, Patrick, Andrew; and a close family friend, Janice Baum. Also her sister-in-law, Frances Treaster and special niece, Helen Mitchell in addition to nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, Hopewell, and a Celebration of her life will be Friday, January 11, 2019, at 11 a.m., Wesley United Methodist Church, Hopewell. Mr. Lawrence Scott of Petersburg, transitioned from this life at home surrounded by family. He was a native of Sussex County, later relocating to Petersburg. Lee was the son of the late Leroy and Gladys Scott. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary L. Scott; his sister, Cora L. Walker; brothers, James, Junious, Herman, and Marshall (Edlow); niece, Audrey Scott.
Lee was a member of the Little Mount Baptist Church, where he served as Trustee until his health declined. He was also a member of Masonic Euerka #15 and St. Johns Young Men’s Bingo Association. He loved bingo and his CB “Coffeemaker.” Lee was employed at Whelan Exxon for years.
Lee is survived by one son, Lawrence; sister, Malendia Lawrence of Washington, DC; sisterin-law, Delores Scott; a host of nieces and nephews, two were his caregivers Joyce Dabney and Sandrea Scott; many friends among them one devoted Ms. Eliza Shine.
A celebration of life will be held 11 am Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Little Mount Baptist Church, 8012 Jerusalem Plank Road, Disputanta, VA. Rev. Charles Davis, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
