VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Judy’s Kindness Kitchen, a Sundaymorning soup kitchen in Providence run entirely by volunteers, needs help each week. The kitchen utilizes a team of 10 to 15 volunteers to prepare 500 sandwiches and snacks that are then distributed to individuals at Crossroads Rhode Island and Emmanuel House. The food is prepared at the Jewish Community Center at 401 Elmgrove Ave. in Providence, from 8 to 9:45 a.m. To sign up to volunteer, visit judyskindnesskitchen.org.
Newport Tree Conservancy seeks volunteers for its fifth annual tree reforestation event in Newport on Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28. The event will take place in Miantonomi Park from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. each day as the organization plans to plant 100 native trees to provide shade for people and habitat for birds and wildlife. It will be held rain or shine and is a family-friendly opportunity. Youths under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The Newport Tree Conservancy will provide snacks and T-shirts. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and to bring a reusable water bottle and gloves. Contact Rachel Holbert to sign up or ask questions: (401) 264-1788 or volunteer@NewportTree.org.
