Art League Rhode Island is looking for volunteers who wish to help with fundraising and grant writing, or as Gallery Sitters. Its Development Committee is recruiting new members who have experience organizing fundraising initiatives or coordinating events. They also need a grant writer to develop proposals for potential funders. Additionally, Gallery Sitters are needed to interact with visitors about the artists and artwork on display. Books Are Wings, the Pawtucket nonprofit whose mission puts free books in the hands of local kids, needs storytime volunteers. These volunteers help in classrooms and have availability during the school day to read to students in pre-K through third grade in schools in Providence, Pawtucket and Central Falls. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Once registered, volunteers have access to a sign-up list to choose the events they wish to help at. Read-aloud events are scheduled approximately twice a month on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Volunteer as frequently as your schedule permits.
