VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Habitat for Humanity South County is looking for volunteers age 18 and older to help as Donation Truck Assistants. These volunteers must be comfortable lifting heavy furniture, such as sofas, refrigerators, dressers and other large items weighing 50 pounds or more. Rhode Island Black Business Association seeks volunteers to assist on its committees and with fundraising and events. Board and committee roles are available with regards to advocacy and policy as well as membership. Additionally, finance professionals are needed to lend their skills in the areas of audit, tax preparation and budgets and forecasts. The organization is also looking for volunteers with a background in fundraising, and general event volunteers as they plan their 10th anniversary event. The Village Common needs volunteers for its Edgewood Village. Volunteers provide short-distance rides for older adults. These volunteers must have their own vehicle, valid car insurance and a good driving record. Volunteer drivers who speak Spanish are especially needed. Additionally, volunteers are needed for light yard and property work, such as raking leaves and shoveling snow, and putting out trash and recycle bins weekly.
