VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNIT­IES

Habitat for Humanity South County is looking for volunteers age 18 and older to help as Donation Truck Assistants. These volunteers must be comfortabl­e lifting heavy furniture, such as sofas, refrigerat­ors, dressers and other large items weighing 50 pounds or more. Rhode Island Black Business Associatio­n seeks volunteers to assist on its committees and with fundraisin­g and events. Board and committee roles are available with regards to advocacy and policy as well as membership. Additional­ly, finance profession­als are needed to lend their skills in the areas of audit, tax preparatio­n and budgets and forecasts. The organizati­on is also looking for volunteers with a background in fundraisin­g, and general event volunteers as they plan their 10th anniversar­y event. The Village Common needs volunteers for its Edgewood Village. Volunteers provide short-distance rides for older adults. These volunteers must have their own vehicle, valid car insurance and a good driving record. Volunteer drivers who speak Spanish are especially needed. Additional­ly, volunteers are needed for light yard and property work, such as raking leaves and shoveling snow, and putting out trash and recycle bins weekly.
