Federal Hill House,

in Providence, is looking for volunteers who want to make a positive difference in the life of a child. The organizati­on seeks afterschoo­l volunteers to help run activities for youth, Monday through Friday, from 4 to 6 p.m. Sign up to help for one day, a couple of days, or for a regular shift. There is also a need for “Reading Helpers” who make stories come to life for children in their Early Learning Center. For this opportunit­y, days and hours are flexible between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Volunteers are guaranteed to have fun! MENTOR Rhode Island

needs volunteers to help at any of its 50 schoolbase­d mentoring programs in Providence, Warwick, Woonsocket, Middletown and Newport. These site-based volunteers meet weekly with their mentee at a school for one hour, at the same time and day each week. Additional­ly, volunteers are needed for communityb­ased programs, where they spend four to six hours per month with their mentee at places like the movies, the mall, getting lunch or ice cream, and more. Pawtucket Backpacker­s

seeks volunteers to help pack food bags for students facing food insecurity. The nonprofit packs food bags for 500 students each week during the school year, with the food going to 14 local public schools for distributi­on. The group and its volunteers meet at Blackstone Academy Charter School on Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers spend the last hour making deliveries or taking inventory and restocking the storeroom.
