FCOG Punxsy ready for Trunk or Treat
YOUNG TOWNSHIP — If the little ghost and goblins come to your door and shout “Trunk or Treat” on Saturday, then they’re at the wrong place, as they need to go to the First Church of God (FCOG) in Young Township for Trunk or Treat.
Leah Kovarik, FCOG nextgen pastor, said they are excited to hold it once again this year on Halloween, Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m., in the church parking lot at 23 Skyview Drive, Young Township.
“This year we are dialing back a little bit with COVID19 with holding everything outside,” Kovarik explained, adding that they won’t be doing their normal games inside, but they will have trunks, popcorn, water and a raffled door prize in the church parking lot.
She noted that the door prize is a basket filled with all kinds of Halloween goodies and a book, stuffed animals and all sorts of things.
Kovarik said that they are taking certain precautions due to the virus.
“All of our volunteers will be masked; they’ll have sanitizer and hand sanitizer and wipe off everything, so it will stay clean,” she said. “We ask everyone who comes to be safe and smart and stand six feet apart as they are going through the trunks and stop at one trunk at a time so we are spread out and not all clustered together.”
She added that they have greeters to help keep that flow and keep everyone separated a little bit.
Kovarik said if it does rain, they’ll be cancelling, because they don’t want to move everything inside and have everyone clustered up inside the building.
In past years, FCOG Trunk or Treat also had a bevy of games and refreshments of hot dogs, hot chocolate, which added a lot to the event.
