• 9th-grade boys basketball: Punxsy fired out of the gates to outscore the Brockway Rovers by 16 points in the first quarter and never looked back on its way to a 45-23 win in 9th-grade boys basketball action Tuesday.

“A nice start coupled with a strong community effort led the way for us in Brockway today,” Punxsy coach Darrin Kriebel said. “We had a nice balance, with nine players scoring. We’ll look to finish strong (today) in our last game.”

Jimmie Neese paced the scoring for Punxsy with nine points, with Aiden Cameron and Mason Nesbitt adding eight each. Zach Presloid finished with five, followed by AJ Hewitt and Alex Deppen with four each, Nick Wisnesky with three and Cooper Hallman and Luke Miller with two apiece.

Punxsy (6-6) will close its season at home today, as the Chucks welcome the Clearfield Bison to town.

• 8th-grade boys basketball: In 8th-grade action, the Chucks followed a similar script as the 9th-graders, outpacing their host by 15 points in the first quarter and 21 in the first half to open up a big lead, then pulling away for a 42-12 win.

Brody Stouffer was Punxsy’s top scorer with 11 points, followed by Coy Martino with seven and Landon Neal and Porter wood with six each. Nathan Kendrick, AJ States and Noah Kengersky each had four points to round things out.

Punxsy (6-5) will be back in action against Clearfield today at home.

• 7th-grade boys basketball: The 7th-grade Punxsy boys made it 3-for-3 with the storyline, as they also outpaced their host, Brockway, by 15 points in the first quarter to open up a big lead, then they blanked the Rovers 11-0 in the third quarter on their way to a 33-19 victory.

Parker Stahlman poured in 11 points to lead the way for Punxsy, with Beau Thomas adding six. Adin Bish and Maddox Hetrick added four each, and Talon Beer, Zaden Gould, Lucas Mennitti and Landan Temchulla each had two.

The 7th-grade Chucks (6-4) host Clearfield this afternoon.
