Punxsy grad hiring student painters, marketers as part of IUP internship

Amber Huffman is a senior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is scheduled to graduate in May. She is majoring in business management, with a minor in economics.

Huffman recently accepted an internship with Young Entrepreneurs Across America.

The organization gives college students like Huffman a chance to manage their own business for a summer and advance their entrepreneur experience, while also providing them with management experience for future careers.

“The business I will be running is Student Painters, which provides exterior painting service to the local community in the Punxsutawney and Indiana area,” Huffman said Monday.

Student Painters has been providing those services and others in communities since 1987. The organization

offers a variety of exterior home improvement, including painting, staining and power washing homes, sheds and more.

The company uses Sherwin Williams products.

“With the student painter business, I am hoping to provide college and high school students in the local area with a summer job,” Huffman said. “It will also help me gain entrepreneur experience so I can get closer to my goal of opening a business in the future.

“I am looking to employ five marketers and 10 to 15 painters. Both positions require no experience, and training is provided to help give them skills for their future careers.”

Huffman said she plans to hire local high school and college students for the positions.

“For the spring semester, I am looking to recruit my employees and book paint jobs for the summer while continuing to work as a student employee at my university, a part-time job as a waitress and being a fulltime student,” she said.

“This experience will help further mine and my recruiters’ future careers while providing an exterior painting service to the community.”
