Steven Edward Triponey, 50, of Cut Bank, Montana, formerly of Punxsutawn­ey, passed away unexpected­ly on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, in Hall, Montana.

He was born July 26, 1970, in Kittery, Maine, a son of Gerald Edward Triponey and the late Shirley Ann (Odom) Triponey. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Bernica Triponey. His father, Gerald, survives and resides in Reynoldsvi­lle.

He was a 1988 graduate of Penn View Christian School.

Steve served as a hospital corpsman in the United States Naval Reserve for eight years.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Penn State University and his Master of Science, Family Nurse Practition­er degree from Northern Arizona University School of Nursing. At the time of his death, he was enrolled in the DNP program through Chatham University. Steven was always learning and expanding his knowledge in the field of medicine.

His medical career spanned from 1994 until 2021, beginning with the ambulance services in Grove City, Natrona Heights and Oil City. He worked as both a paramedic and flight nurse for STAT MedEvac in Pittsburgh; a registered nurse at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Cardiothor­acic Intensive Care; Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Georgia; clinical research RN at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia; pediatric heart transplant coordinato­r at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida; clinical research RN at Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center in Tucson, Arizona; hospitalis­t/nocturnist nurse practition­er at Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and most recently as emergency nurse practition­er at Northern Rockies Medical Center in Cut Bank, Montana. Studying medicine and caring for others was his life.

In his free time, Steven loved being with his friends, hiking the Montana prairies and mountains, hunting and especially spending time with his two Brittany spaniels, Lucy and Katy.

He is survived by his father; one brother, Paul (Lisa) Triponey of Reynoldsvi­lle; three sisters, Michele (Kenny) Simballa of Lisbon, Ohio, Judith (Ken) Thomas of Chugiak, Alaska, and Bonita (Charles) Jones of Huntington, Texas; 11 nieces and nephews; and two greatnephe­ws.

Friends were received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2021, and will be again from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday, March 8, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawn­ey.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2021, officiated by Pastor Steve Cassidy.

Interment will follow at Reynoldsvi­lle Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.
