No deaths, two more cases in Jefferson County Monday
Jefferson County had a slow Monday in the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s COVID-19 reports, finding only two new cases for a cumulative total of 3,155. There were no new deaths, leaving the total at 94.
That was the case in Clearfield and Indiana counties as well, as their respective death tolls remained at 133 and 165. Clearfield reported 21 more cases for a total of 7,854, and Indiana reported 11 for a total of 5,743.
Statewide, the total cases rose to 1,109,291, while deaths edged up to 25,690. There are 2,638 people in hospitals with COVID-19, of whom 551 are in intensive care units.
Also Monday, Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration, UPMC and the Pittsburgh Penguins announced a new partnership to promote the COVID-19 vaccine and educate the community about it. The Penguins will now be incorporating PA Unites Against COVID campaign materials across their organization, including putting them on display at PPG Paints Arena.
Wolf also received his first dose of the Moderna vaccine Monday at Family First Health Center in York. His second dose was scheduled immediately afterward.
“I was happy to wait until every Pennsylvanian who wants a vaccine was eligible to get my own, and I was really pleased to get my first dose today at Family First Health, a federally qualified health center,” Wolf said. “I hope my vaccination sets an example for those who might still be considering getting a COVID-19 vaccine and encourages them to make the decision to make an appointment today to get vaccinated.”
