Marga Shaffer, 75, of Worthville, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 at Punxsutawney Hospital following an illness.

Born on Oct. 23, 1946, in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Marjorie Mitchell Kroh.

She was a 1964 graduate of Brookville High School and was of the Methodist faith.

On April 17, 1965, in Coolspring, she married Richard L. Shaffer. He survives.

Prior to her retirement, she had worked numerous jobs throughout the years. For a time, she had been employed with Sheetz as manager at both the Brookville and Punxsutawney stores, as well as at the Jefferson County Public Defender’s Office.

Always active, she was a member of Silver Sneakers and was the secretary for Oliver Township Fire Department.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling and going for car rides. But what brought her the most joy was spending time with her family, especially time spent with her grandchildren.

Her survivors include her husband, Richard; her son, Thomas (Kelly Lynn) Shaffer; her daughter, Mollie (Matthew) Caun; her brother, Paul Kroh; her sister, Jennie (Clifford) Reinard; her stepsister, Paula (Ken) McKinney; and her grandchildren, Gage and Ty Shaffer and Benjamin and Luke Caun, as well as numerous extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Libby Luther.

There will be no public services held. A private family viewing and prayer service were held Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville.

Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Knoxdale, Jefferson County.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donation be made to either Brookville YMCA or Oliver Township Fire Company.
