Punxsy Chucks track/field takes part in Mars Invite, brings home seven medals
MARS — The Punxsutawney Chucks track and field team was on the road on Friday, taking part in the Mars Invitational, where the Chucks finished in ninth out of 34 with a score of 23.
Five members of the team and one relay team earned medals on Friday, with those finishing in the top- six places getting a medal.
In the pole vault, Grant Miller placed third with a mark of 13- 2, which was a new personal best.
Senior Tyler Elliott raced to third in the 300- meter hurdles with a time of 41.78 for a new seasonal best.
He also placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.97, which was also a new seasonal best.
Ryen Heigley placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 39-3 for a new personal best by close than two feet.
In the shot put, Matthew
Grusky earned a fifthplace finish with a mark of 42-2.
Michael Clemmer had a mark of 11-8 in the pole vault for a sixth- place finish.
The 4x800-meter relay, the team of Eric Surkala, Garrett Bartlebaugh, David Kunselman and Evan Groce raced to fifth with a time 8:42.62.
