WAY BACK WHEN

April 17, 1895 Installation of Pastor
The installation of Rev. Harry G. Teagarden as regular pastor of the Olive Cumberland Presbyterian church will take place on Sunday evening, April 21, at 8 p.m. Rev. Teagarden has had charge of that church for some time and his able sermons and genial manners have endeared him to the people and they want him to remain with them permanently. The commission appointed by the Allegheny Presbytery to conduct the installation ceremonies consists of Revs. T.M. Hartman, J.M. Van Horn and F.M. Folks. A cordial invitation is extended to all.
April 17, 1895 Damage by the Flood
The flood of last week did considerable damage along the Mahoning between Punxsutawney and Big Run. At Brown’s mill a large number of logs escaped from the boom and distributed themselves along the creek bank for a considerable distance, and some of the tracks for running lumber out of the mill were washed away, and the abutment on the north side of the county bridge at that place was bodily undermined by the water. There were also serious damages to the roads in that vicinity. The county commissioners have been notified of the damage to the bridge, and will take the necessary steps to repair it as soon as practicable.
April 17, 1895 Some Probable New Buildings
There is a probability that quite a number of new buildings will be erected in Punxsutawney this year. M.H. Smith and Lee Henry are putting up a business building on the corner of Mahoning and Water streets, and Campbell & Livingood are doing likewise. Al. Jordan will erect a fine residence on West Mahoning street, and P. Mann is talking of building a nice residence. It is also possible that the new M.E. church will be built this summer. Now is the time to build cheaply. Next year times will be booming again as sure as your name is Jeremiah, and then it will cost you more money. For people who have money to build, and want to build, this is the most favorable opportunity that will happen in life time. The wise man taketh a hint and hieth him to the architect.
