Punxsy junior high track in final home meet of season
PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsutawney junior high track and field team was home on Wednesday afternoon against visiting DuBois and Elk County Catholic.
The Punxsy boys took first with a score of 74, with ECC (69) and DuBois (45) following in second and third. The DuBois girls took first (73), and ECC (52.5) and Punxsy (51.5) followed.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of Olivia Toven, Breeana Bergreen, Adelynn Lewis and Maggie Guidice took first with a time of 55.35, and in the 4x400-meter relay, the team of Toven, Bergreen, Lewis and Guidice also took first with a time of 4:37.13.
For the boys, Adin Bish took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.45 for a new personal best, as well as a qualification for the Altoona Championship meet.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Logan Moore took second with a time of 47.69 for a personal best, and in the pole vault, his mark of 7-06 qualified him for the Altoona Championship.
Jordan Rutan had a time of 46.28 in the 300-meter hurdles for first place and a new personal best, while Zaden Gould placed second in the javelin with a mark of 111-00 for a personal best. Also, Evan Presloid took first in the javelin (119-07) and came in second in the triple jump (34-08), both of which were new personal bests.
Nolan Lewis placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (22.28), seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:08.04) and sixth in the javelin with a throw of 75-03, all of were personal bests.
Keagan Neufeld had a time of 15.30 in the 100-meter dash, while he had a time of 32.83 in the 200-meter dash. In the 1,600-meter run, Chris Setree had a new personal-best time of 5:59.03.
Next Wednesday will see Punxsy travel to Bradford to finish up the regular season, and that following Saturday, those who qualified will travel to the Altoona Championship meet on May 14.
