Mayor gives Anthony ‘Key to the City’
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Scott Anthony, owner of Punxsy Pizza, received another key to add to his key chain on Wednesday, as Punxsutawney Mayor Rich Alexander presented him with the “Key to the City.”
Alexander said that the award is much deserved because Anthony has done so much for the city, as well as the fire department. He said the recognition has been a long time coming.
“Not only does he help the fire department with Pizza and Prevention, but he contributes to other non-profit organizations as well,” Alexander said.
He congratulated Anthony and the employees of Punxsy Pizza for their efforts.
Anthony said it was a very nice surprise and he was very humbled to accept it.
“It really means a lot to us, having been chosen for the ‘Key to the City,’” Anthony said. “It was a great surprise; we try to be a very communityminded business.
He said that was why they named the business after their hometown of Punxsutawney.
“It’s Punxsy Pizza, and we try to work with the community, and we always say that Punxsutawney is where our roots are, not our branches,” Anthony said. “We want to be a business that benefits the community too.”
