Chucks score big early on in 9-3 win over DuBois Beavers

PUNXSUTAWN­EY — The Punxsutawn­ey Chucks baseball team was home on Wednesday afternoon against the visiting DuBois Beavers, who the home team went on to beat 9-3 to move to 11-5 in the season.

The Chucks out-hit the Beavers 9-6, while the visitors committed two errors.

In the first inning, Punxsy pushed through four runners to make it 4-0, and in the second, they added in one more run.

The third inning saw the Chucks push through another run, but in the fourth, both teams scored two runs apiece.

In the fifth inning, both teams added in a run apiece, but it wasn’t enough for the Beavers to overcome the Chucks’ earlier gains.

On the mound for the Chucks, Jake Sikora worked over four innings with three strikeouts.

Carter Savage had three hits and three RBIs for Punxsy, while Isaac London had two hits.
