Lady Chucks softball loses on the road, returns home for regular-season closer
WINGATE — The Punxsutawney Lady Chucks softball team was on the road on Wednesday afternoon, and unfortunately, they came back home with a 11-1 loss to Bald Eagle.
With the loss, the Lady Chucks move to 9-9 in the season.
There was a silver lining for Punxsy though, as sophomore Ciara Toven hit a home run in the second inning to break the single season home-run record with her seventh one.
Avary Powell had a hit for the Lady Chucks, while Brooke Young hit two singles. Also, Emily Dobbins had a hit as well.
On the mound, Karli Young worked three innings and struck out two, while Brynn Hergert put in three in relief with one walk and strikeout.
The Lady Chucks will be home tomorrow to finish up the regular season against the visiting St. Marys Lady Dutch.
“Tomorrow will be a big game mentally for us, as we’ve hit a little skid right now,” said Punxsy coach Brad Constantino. “But we have to get out of it, as tomorrow is a big game for the team.”
