Jefferson County EMS planning emergency response drill
BROOKVILLE — The Jefferson County Emergency Services Department is planning safety exercises at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
Tracy Zents, Jefferson County Emergency Services director, said that on June 10 between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., they are going to be conducting a full scale exercise at the courthouse to test some internal plans and response to certain scenarios that would cause disruption to county services.
“During the time period, we’re asking the public to basically work with us, and we’re going to restrict the public from being in the building during the time after the exercise is over with,” Zents said, adding the courthouse will be reopened.
Zents said its important that they do some testing on some of their preparedness plans to make sure they are working correctly in the event of some unlikely scenarios that would occur.
The commissioners also approved:
• Resolution 2022-09 authorizing the submission of an application for funding the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant in the amount of $500,000 for the Stello Foods plant expansion project.
Jamie LeFever, executive director of the Jefferson County Development Council, said the resolution that the commission is passing an agreement that allows it to be passed through Jefferson County.
“We have authorized them to go for the funds,” LeFever said, adding that its been about two and a half years doing this, as they’ve finally completed what needed to be done to be able to do that.
• Sportsburg bridge: The commission to award the JC-21 Bridge repair project to CH&D Enterprises, Inc., at a total bid price of $475,483.70. This award is contingent upon the contractor fulfilling all contract requirements.
Ben White, Jefferson County community development director, said this is the bridge over Mahoning Creek in Sportsburg will be under construction hopefully during the summer months.
