Connie L. Hockenberry, 81
Connie L. Hockenberry, 81, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, peacefully at her home surrounded by family.
She was born March 22, 1941, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Julia (Smith) and George T. Jones.
On July 21, 1978, she married Severino A. “Jr.” Hockenberry, who survives.
Connie was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.
She worked as a secretary for Nationwide Insurance in Punxsutawney for 20 years and retired in 1999. Connie always said that working for Ed Kengersky was one of the best experiences of her life.
Connie enjoyed vacationing, traveling, painting, drawing, jigsaw puzzles, spending winters in North Myrtle Beach with her husband, summertime picnics and cookouts, being a host for family events and camping.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Kevin Bianco and wife April of Warren, Ohio, Keith Bianco and wife DeAnn of Corning, New York, Jerry Bianco of Moon Township, Gina Buffington of Big Run, and Jeffrey Bianco of Punxsutawney; four stepchildren, Michael Hockenberry and wife Lanna of Rural Valley, David Hockenberry and wife Michelle of Evans
City, Joseph Hockenberry and wife Jill of Eriem and Lisa Schrecengost and husband Steve of Rural Valley; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, George “Tim” Jones and wife Cheryl of Arizona.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Crawford.
Connie was a second mother to her sister’s four daughters, her beloved nieces, Julie Roney, Jacki Miller, Jamie Hopkins and Joni Gallina, all of Punxsutawney.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Deeley Funeral Home. A service will be held immediately following visitation beginning at 6 p.m., officiated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.
Interment will in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
