PAH primary care, pediatric offices to host open house and egg hunt

PUNXSUTAWNEY — As we all live our busy lives, it is not uncommon for an individual’s health and wellness to not be a main priority. Often, as a society, we do not seek guidance from medical professional unless we are currently experiencing an issue.

Primary care providers manage day-to-day health needs of patients and a central point of contact for healthcare needs. By creating a long-term relationship with a PCP, you are more likely to be healthier and generally have lower medical costs because of the preventative measures like screenings a PCP can offer. A primary care provider can teach you ways to stay healthy, and of course, treat you when you’re sick. A PCP is also a conduit to help you get more advanced care when you need it. Finding the right PCP for you or your loved one takes time but does improve your wellbeing in the long run.

The Punxsutawney Area Hospital is hosting an open house at the primary care office and new pediatric office to introduce our talented medical team that serves the community. PAH is excited to announce a new pediatric service line at the facility as well.

Dr. Clark Simpson, chief medical officer, states, “As medical leadership at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital, it is my job to evaluate the needs of the community and work diligently to recruit medical specialists that can help support those needs. Pediatrics is an area of health that many members of our community are passionate about. I am overjoyed to introduce Dr. Diana Dutra join the PAH team in pediatrics, and I look forward to the youngest members of our community receiving care from such a talented and personable physician.”

Establishing a primary care provider is important at all ages of life for prevention and condition management. According to the American Academy for Pediatrics, patients generally transition from seeking care from a pediatrician to a primary care provider around age 18-21.

The open house will take place on Wednesday, March 20, between 4 and 6 p.m. on the PAH campus. The offices for Primary Care and Pediatrics are located in the Medical Arts Building, which can be accessed by using entrance 3, the Rapid Care entrance. Children are encouraged to attend with their loved ones; not only will they have the opportunity to meet these providers, but they can participate in a free egg hunt as well. RSVPs are not required to attend, and attendees can come at any point between 4 and 6 p.m.

The primary care providers who will be present are Phillip States, M.D., Amanda Greenblatt, CRNP, Michael Kacsmar, CRNP, Nicole Pomeroy, CRNP, Melissa Powell, CRNP, Keli Simpson, CRNP, Erin Cessna, PA-C, and Angela Shaffer, PA-C.
