PAHS Students beat PAHS Staff in first-ever BBall event
PUNXSUTAWNEY — In the Chucks Daly Memorial Gym last night, the first-ever PAHS Student vs. Staff Basketball game was held to open the spring for PAHS.
And during the evening, the students built a sizable lead by halftime to win the event 60-32.
Also during halftime of the game, the Lady Chucks Wrestling’s Jael Miller had her 170-Pound Championship Banner unveiled in the CDMG right next to other Punxsy Wrestling State Champion
Kaleb Young’s (2016) banner.
The banner was raised after Miller won the 170-Pound Chamionship Title a few weeks in Hershey, while also becoming on of the first PIAA Girls State Champions.
To open the evening, the Punxsy School District Staff put in some early points, with Darrin Kriebel hitting some points, along with some threes from Carson DeWitt.
But the Students hit some threes to take a 12-8 lead going into the second quarter. Both Riley Doverspike and
Emily McMahan hit threepointers, while the tallest on the student team, Jimmie Neese, added in four points from lay-ups. Also, Kolton Koppenhaver put in two points.
Going into the second quarter, Kriebel and DeWitt added in more points for the Staff, along with points from Sarah Pack and Alex Hewitt.
However, the Students kept ahead, going into halftime up 30-16.
Sawyer Hall and Neese both scored two points, while Koppenhaver hit a three and scored four more points. Also, Doverspike hit a three, and AJ Hewitt scored two points as well.
It kept rolling in the third quarter, with the Students going into the fourth and final quarter up 45-24. McMahan hit two threes for the Students that quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Mike Thompson made a three for the staff, while DeWitt, Mike McMahan and Kyle Gordon all scored two points apiece.
For the Students, Doverspike, Aiden Cameron and Neese all scored two points, while Hewitt scored five (one three). Also, Koppenhaver scored four points.
