Big Run man gets 10-20 years in Indiana County child sex abuse case
INDIANA, Pa. — District Attorney Robert Manzi announced Monday that Tyler Stormer, 24, of Big Run, was sentenced to serve up to 20 years in a state correctional institution, with consecutive probation.
Cumulatively, Manzi wrote in a post on his Facebook page, Stormer is ordered to serve no less than 10 and no more than 20 years in a state correctional institution. Subsequent to that, Stormer will serve four years of re-entry supervision.
On Dec. 13, Stormer entered a no contest plea to 15 offenses related to an assault of a child. The defendant entered the no contest plea to the following offenses:
• One count of rape of a child with serious bodily injury, a felony of the first degree;
• One count of rape of a child, a felony of the first degree;

• Two counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child, a felony of the first degree;
• Two counts of aggravated indecent assault, person less than 13 years old, a felony of the third degree; and
• Four counts of harassment, a summary offense.
A no contest plea is one in which the defendant accepts conviction, but does not admit guilt.
In early 2021, the Pennsylvania State Police received a ChildLine report of a minor allegedly being assaulted by the defendant. The victim participated in forensic interviews at the CARE Center of Indiana County and the Western PA CARES for Kids child advocacy center in
Jefferson County. With the forensic interviews and investigation conducted by the state police, charges were filed against the defendant on Aug. 2 of last year.
“I want to acknowledge the strength the victim had to come forward and relay the horrendous crimes that occurred. I know that the victim is being supported and being provided services to help process these terrible events” said Manzi. “I also want to applaud the diligent and professional investigative efforts of the Pennsylvania State Police that led to this perpetrator being removed from our community. As for the defendant, I hope he spends every second of that sentence in state prison.”
