DUBOIS — The Punxsutawney Lady Chucks Track and Field team traveled to DuBois on Tuesday afternoon, where the hosting school beat Punxsy 90-60. Also, the Lady Chucks beat Clarion-Limestone 123-22.

“The team competed well, and we saw some nice performances across the events,” said Lady Chucks Head Coach John Snyder. “We are looking forward to a big competition day on Friday at the Butler Invitational.”

Junior Mary Grusky took first in discus, javelin and shot put, with her throw of 122-00 in the discus being a new personal. That throw was second best in the state at the AA-level, and she already has the second-best in the state in javelin (143-00), which she had in the previous meet.

Also, her throw in the discus was an improvement of over 10 feet from her previous record.

Following in the footsteps of the boys team’s former member Grant Miller, who broke the Chucks’ pole vault record last year at Districts, the Lady Chucks’ freshman Elliana Kostok finished four inches away from the current Lady Chucks record to take first with a mark of 10-03.

The current school record was set Makenna Nesbitt in 2019 with a mark of 10-07.

Both Grusky and Kostok qualified for Districts in those events.

Junior Madison Momyer qualified for Districts in the both the 100-meter hurdles (16.65) and the triple jump (33-02). She finished second in the triple jump and first in the 100 hurdles, and both finishes were new personal bests.

Senior Emily McMahan took second in the 1,600meter run (5:51.62) and second in the 800-meter run (2:36.08) to qualify for Districts in both events.

Sophomore Riley Miller took second in the 400-meter dash (1:01.82) and first in the 200-meter dash (27.28), with both finishes qualifying her for Districts, while also being new personal bests.

The Lady Chucks 4x100-meter relay team of Maggie Guidice, Riley Doverspike, Kostok and Momyer took first with a time of 52.55, which was a new personal best by almost a full second.

Along with that relay, the Lady Chucks 4x400- and 4x800-meter relays qualified for Districts.

Another finishes had Guidice (13.48), Natalie Burkett (13.59) and Kostok (13.65) all have new personal bests in the 100-meter dash.

Also, Bella Gigliotti (14-01) and Madison Rudolph (13-07) had new personal-best jumps in the long jump.

The Lady Chucks will return to action on Friday, as they are set to take part in the Butler Invite.
