Underclassmen Lady Chucks Track and Field team takes part in Butler Invite
BUTLER — The 9thand 10th-grade members of the Punxsutawney Lady Chucks Track and Field team took part in the Butler 9th/10th-Grade Invite this past Thursday.
Two individuals and one relay team finished in the top three places to earn medals, starting with sophomore Riley Miller taking first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:26.80.
Freshman Elliana Kostok took second in the pole vault with a height of 9-08, while the 4x100meter relay team of Natalie Burkett, Kostok, Addie Lewis and Maggie Guidice took third with a time of 52.83. Both individuals and the relay team qualified for Districts in their events.
Those earning ribbons by finishing in the top eight started with Lewis taking fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.60, which also qualified her for Districts. Her time was also a new personal best in the event.
Miller also took fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.23, while Guidice finished in sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.53. Also, Burkett placed in 8th in the 200 with a time of 28.31, which was also a new personal best.
Along with Miller, Breeana Bergreen (2:51.36) and Brehanna Satterlee (2:51.53) had new personal bests in the 800. Also, Alivia Groce (1:08.81) and Kenadee Snyder (1:27.95) ran new personal-best times in the 400-meter dash.
In the field, Aleena Filitske (40-02) had a new personal best, while both Ellie Bodenhorn (63-00) and Zoey Rushnok (76-04) had new personal-best throws in the javelin.
