Lady Chucks Track and Field team takes part in Lock Haven Classic Invite

LOCK HAVEN — The Punxsutawn­ey Lady Chucks Track and Field team took part in the 27th-Annual Lock Haven Classic on Friday, with one relay and three individual­s earning medals by finishing in the top-three places.

Junior Mary Grusky took first in the javelin with a throw of 141-04, which was pretty close to her current school record of 145-08.

Freshman Elliana Kostok took third in the pole vault with a height of 10-06, which is only one inch away from the PAHS school record of 10-07 set by Makena Nesbitt in 2019.

Junior Madison Momyer took third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.65, which matched her current personal best. She qualified for Districts in that event, along with qualifying in the triple jump (33-05.25).

Also, the 4x800-meter relay team of Taylor Bair, Emily McMahan, Hannah Surkala and Riley Miller placed third with a time of 10:07.04, which qualified them for Districts and has them ranked sixth in PIAA 2A. That time was also a seasonal best, while McMahan ran a seasonalbe­st split.

Also qualifying for Districts was the 4x100meter relay team of Momyer, Kostok, Riley Doverspike and Maggie Guidice with a time of 52.29. That time of 52.29 was also a seasonal best.

Other finishes had Kostok (13.63) running a new personal best in the 100-meter dash, while McMahan (2:30.60) and Madison Rudolph (2:44.82) both ran new seasonal bests in the 800-meter run. Also, Lydia Miller (6:09.66) and Breeana Bergreen (6:32.70) ran seasonal bests in the 1,600-meter run.

Danielle Griebel (1:07.73) had a new seasonal best in the 400-meter dash, while also running a new seasonal best in the 200-meter dash (29.74). Riley Doverspike (29.04) also ran a new seasonal best in the 200.

In the field, Griebel (95-01) had a new seasonalbe­st throw in the javelin, while Momyer had a new personal best in the triple jump (33-05.25) and new seasonal best in the high jump (4-04).

The Lady Chucks will return to action on Tuesday at home, as they host Indiana. It will also be Senior Night, with recognitio­n starting at 3:40 p.m.
