Each year, over 1,000 students apply to and are awarded scholarship funding to help them realize their academic dreams. In 2018, $2.4 million in scholarships were awarded to 1,014 recipients. The work of the Foundation is enabled through the generosity of individual donors as well as fundraising events, our membership program, and institutional grant funding. By donating or applying for membership, you can make a tangible difference in the lives of the people who work tirelessly to maintain the safety of all Californians. https://chp11-99.org.

Rancho Cielo Youth Campus

With a homicide rate that far exceeds those of much larger cities, Salinas has become the epicenter of some of the worst gang violence in the nation. Rancho Cielo combats this with opportunity -education and job training. Low-income youth who demonstrate a commitment to improving their lives are accepted into Rancho Cielo and may pursue training in the Culinary Arts or Construction. Culinary students spend half of the day in the classroom earning high school diplomas, and half of the day in the commercial kitchen learning to cook. The Construction students just finished building housing on campus, and are now focusing on solar panel installations. The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie worked with Rancho Cielo to set up an auto mechanic internship with Antique Auto Restoration for interested youths. Located on a 100-acre ranch in Salinas, the Rancho Cielo Youth Campus is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose vision is to transform the lives of underserved youth and empower them to become accountable, competent and responsible citizens. Campus tours are offered year-round. For more information, please call CEO Susie Brusa at 831-444-3533 or visit: www.ranchocieloyc.org

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps

The Army JROTC program serves Seaside and Marina High Schools. Their mission is "to motivate young people to be better citizens." They typically start the school year with about 230 cadets, teaching leadership, teamwork, citizenship responsibilities and traditions, and general life skills. The cadets support local schools and community organizations with color guards, drill team performances, event parking control, flag details, and many other "manpower intensive" requirements. Funds raised are used for scholarships to deserving four-year cadets to college, as well as for the annual Battalion Ball, and for uniforms.
