Owner to close The Irish Mist after more than a decade in business

TROY – The Irish Mist, an Irish pub and restaurant which has been welcoming patrons for more than a decade on Second Street, will be closing its doors come the end of the month.

“I've decided to call it quits,” said owner Don Russell during a phone interview Wednesday. “After 12 years, I just don't see the city moving forward. Crime is up, taxes are up….”

Russell will continue to operate the catering side of the business, but is looking move his pub out fo the city and sell the building at 285 Second Street.

The pub will be open for regular hours until Sunday, June 16, when Russell will host a “pre-finale” Father's Day Party to begin at 5 p.m., with music by Frank Jaklitsch and Friends. The restaurant will reopen again on June 30 at 3 p.m. for a “grand finale party” with performanc­es by a variety of musicians .
