Indians bounce back to beat Witches

GREENIWCH >> The Hoosic Valley boys basketball team grabbed a much- needed bounce-back victory Tuesday night, topping Wasaren League rival Greenwich 6642 on the road.

After a disappoint­ing loss to Hoosick Falls on Friday night, the Indians looked to rebound on the court and hold their own against another strong league opponent.

The dynamic duo of John Rooney and Mike Pierre was at it again for the Valley, as the two posted 22 and 25 points respective­ly.

Sean Estramonte led the Witches with a team-high 11 points in Greenwich’s secondstra­ight loss. TROY 76, BISHOP MAGINN 50 >> Dyaire Holt and Zach Radz continued to be the dynamic duo that the Flying Horses hope they’ll be, combining for 36 points in the Big 10 victory.

The two combined for 11 from the field, including six shots from behind the arc.

Jacorey Nixon led the Golden Griffins with a teamhigh 17 points.

SCHENECTAD­Y 63, CBA 58>> Schenectad­y used a 20-12 fourth quarter to pull away from CBA in a Big 10 upset. Tobias Holmes scored a team high 20 points and Neftali Lind added 16 points to lead the Patriots. McDonald’s All-American nominee Greg Stire led the way for the Brothers with a game high 25 points.

ALBANY 70, AMSTERDAM 69>> Albany squeaks past Amsterdam in Big 10 action. Kevin Callender led the Falcons with 17 points. Cy-Mier Dace added 15 points. Alonzo Martin scored a game high 18 points to lead the Rams. COLUMBIA 61, AVERILL PARK

54 >> Jahlil Nails scored 10 points the decisive fourth quarter and Justin Luther hit a 3-pointer with 1:06 remaining to allow the Blue Devils to extend their lead and pull away.

Nails finished with a game-high 21, while Elijah Lott added 17 for Columbia.

Logan Fahrenkopf scored 14 points to pace the Warriors, while Myles Joyce added 13.

COLONIE 71, BETHLEHEM 66 >> Ryan Nicholson stepped up in a big way for the Garnet Raiders, draining nine from the field and shooting 83% from the line for a team-high 27 points in the Suburban Council matchup.

Colonie out-scored the Eagles 23-to-13 in the final quarter to grab the final victory. Connor Morrelli led the charge for Bethlehem with a game-high 28 points, including 12 from behind the arc. GUILDERLAN­D 64, MOHONASEN 38 >> The Dutchmen stayed perfect on the season with yet another strong Suburban Council showing, that saw 10 different players put points on the board.

Matt Cerutti and Vincent Simeone both racked up 14 for Guilderlan­d, while Andrew Platek wasn’t far behind with 13, including nine points from behind the line.

Chris Richardson was the only Mohon player to post double digits, finishing with 11 points in the loss. LANSINGBUR­GH 66, ICHABOD CRANE 54>> Lansingbur­gh earned its first Colonial Council victory, defeating Ichabod Crane at home. Darnell Sutton led the Knights with 26 points.

Seth Scarano paced the Riders with 20 points. VOORHEESVI­LLE 68, FONDA 39 >> Noah Turner racked up a game-high 20 points for the Braves, but it wasn’t quite enough as 11 different Voorheesvi­lle players put points on the board in the Colonial Council showdown.

Noah Crawford and Logan Hotaling once again led the Blackbirds in the victory. The senior duo both posted 15 points.

HOOSICK FALLS 64, GRANVILLE 27 >> Andrew Hoag and

Mark Hackett combined for 22 points as the Panthers dominated on both sides of the ball to stay perfect in Wasaren League play.

Hoosick Falls did not allow more than nine points in any quarter in the lopsided league matchup. Jacob Young and Cordell Killburn both notched seven points for the Golden Horde. STILLWATER 55, TAMARAC

49 >> After scoring just two points in the first quarter, the Warriors bounced back in a big way to grab the Wasaren League victory.

Dean Gazelli paced Stillwater with a team-high 18 points, sinking five from behind the arc, while Jake Hill and Mitchell Wayand combined for 27 points.

Anthony Giamei posted a game-high 25 points for the Bengals, including 7- of- 8 from the free throw line. MAPLE HILL 46, CAIRO-DURHAM 27>> Maple Hill improved to 6- 3 in the Patroon Conference with their win over Cairo-Durham. Tate Tibbits led the Wildcats with eights points. Chance Ryan and Chris Zwoboda led the Mustangs with six points each. HEATLY 67, NEW LEBANON 31 >> Three different Hornets posted double digits in the CHVL victory, led by Jahseim Chapman’s game-high 19 points.

Heatly jumped out to a 31to- 8 lead after the first quarter, setting the tone from the get- go and only gave up 13 points in the second half for the dominant victory.

Grant May led the Tigers with a team-high 13 points in the loss. GERMANTOWN 79, BERLIN 45>> Germantown remains undefeated in CHVL with their win over Berlin. Tyler Fuchs and Corey Rathjen each had 16 points to lead the Clippers. Greg Depaolis led the Mountainee­rs with a game high 25 points. LOUDONVILL­E CHRISTIAN 57, DOANE STUART 50>> Loudonvill­e Christian defeated Doane Stuart in CHVL action.

Johnny Dariano scored a game high 31 points for the Eagles. The Thunder Chicken were led by DeShawn Speights who had a team high 25 points. GIRLS BASKETBALL TROY 63, BISHOP MAGINN 28>> Troy improves its Big 10 to 6-1 after their road victory over Bishop Maginn.

BETHLEHEM 46, COLONIE 37>> Nicole Riddick and Aliyah Massaconi each recorded a double- double but it wasn’t enough as the Garnet Raiders fell to Bethlehem. Massaconi finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds and Riddick finished with a game high 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Ken Marbot posted a 232- 688 series for Hoosick Falls.

Will Sullivan paced the Black Horses with a 217- 573 series. GIRLS BOWLING LANSINGBUR­GH 32, COBLESKILL 0 >> Lansingbur­gh shut out Cobleskill and won by a total pinfall of 3,2662,235. The Knights were led by Gina Patrcelli who shot a hi game 247- 621 series. Katie Lynch added a pair of 213

games en route to a 610 series for Lansingbur­gh.

The leading bowler for the Bulldogs was Kat Weingarten who shot a 243-568 series. MENS BASKETBALL SAINT ROSE 82, MERRIMACK 78 >> Saint Rose defeated NE-10 rival Merrimack after trailing by nine points with six minutes left. It was a back and forth affair as there were 13 ties and nine lead changes throughout the game. Dominykas Milka recorded his 12th double- double scoring 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Tyler Sayre and Kareem Thomas each contribute­d 13 points for the Golden Knights. Northeast-10 leading scorer Gelvis Solano had a game high 28 points to lead Merrimack. Saint Rose returns to action Saturday when they host Southern New Hampshire at 3:30 p.m. COLUMBIA-GREENE 80, HVCC 70 >> Hudson Valley lost on the road to rival ColumbiaGr­eene. Once again Devonte Gleason led the Vikings, this time scoring 17 points. Matt Walker chipped in with 13 points in the loss. Hudson Valley returns home Thursday when they host Mohawk Valley at 2 p.m. WOMENS BASKETBALL MERRIMACK 62, SAINT ROSE

57 >> Free throws were key in Saint Rose’s defeat over Merrimack. The Warriors finished 16-18 from the charity stripe in the final 6:29 of the second half which was preceded by a 19-7 run that erased a 12 point Golden Knights lead. Merrimack never trailed again. Jess DeNicola finished 8-11 from the field and scored 15 of her game high 19 points in the second half to lead Saint Rose. Brittany O’Shea dished out 10 assists and Sarah Illingswor­th grabbed 10 rebounds for the Golden Knights. Chloe Rothman led Merrimack with 13 points. Saint Rose hosts Southern New Hampshire at 1:30 p.m for “Welcome Back Day” in which the first 200 students in attendance receive a free slice of pizza.
