Leonard David DeVito, Jr., 68, passed peacefully on January 7, 2014, at Evergreen Commons in Troy, N.Y. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfathe­r who loved sports, music, and anything fun.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Clementine; father, Leonard; brother, Carl; and daughter-in- law, Maura Barry DeVito. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Jason of Newton, Mass., and Damon of Charlottes­ville, Va.; daughterLe­sli Smith DeVito; grandchild­ren, Tate, Phoebe, Cooper and Eleanor ( Ellie); and his sister, Madlyn (Irvington, N.Y.)

A Mass of Christian Burial , to which all are invited, will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at 10: 30 a. m. in Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy. The Rev. Randall P. Patterson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Troy. Friends are invited to also visit with the DeVito family on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, from 3 until 7 p. m. at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Watervliet Civic Center, 14th Street, Watervliet, NY 12189. Len would also appreciate you taking a moment this week to teach a child about sports, business or investing, which were things he would do for any child at any time.
