Cadets tennis tops Granville

TROY >> La Salle boys tennis advanced past Granville with a 7-0 victory on Monday. Brennan Buhr was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at top singles.

Ethan Tremblay and Oscar Zhang won at top doubles, 6-2, 6-2. BURNT HILLS 7, MOHONASEN 0 >> Ryan Vullo’s 6-1, 7-5 win at top singles helped lead Burnt Hills to an opening round sectional win over Mohonasen on Monday.

Anthony DeAngelis, Joaquin Rossen and Drew DeLorenzo each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins for the Spartans.

Class AA

BETHLEHEM 9, SHAKER 0 >> Bethlehem was able to win all 18 sets en route to a 9-0 sweep of Shaker in Monday’s first round Class AA sectional match.

Evan Davis was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at top singles for the Eagles, while Shammy Murundi pulled

out a 6-1, 6-3 victory and Govind Chari was a 6-3, 6-1 winner.

Men’s Lacrosse NCAA Tournament

(6) SYRACUSE 11, (9) UALBANY 9 » A strong second half helped Syracuse get past Albany 11-9 in the first round of the Division I NCAA men’s lacrosse tournament on Sunday.

U-Albany (12-4) took a 6-2 lead into halftime, led by a pair of scores from Connor Fields. However, the Great Danes were held to three goals in the second half, while the Orange put together a pair of 3-0 runs and took a 9-8 lead with 9:54 to play in regulation.

Sergio Salcido, Tim Barber and Jordan Evans both found the net twice for Syracuse (12-4).

In net, Evan Malloy made 12 saves for the Orange and Blaze Riorden made nine for the Great Danes.

Syracuse advances to face top-seeded Maryland in the quarterfin­als on Saturday.

Women’s Lacrosse

GATOR OF THE YEAR » Sage women’s lacrosse named Monica Koralus its 2016 Gator of the Year on Monday.

Koralus, a Verbank, N.Y. native, was named a Skyline Conference firstteame­r, becoming the second player in school history to receive the honor. She led the Gators with 77 points, including 64 goals and 15 assists. All three marks are singleseas­on school-records for Sage.

The junior is now the program leader in points, goals and assists.

Men’s Basketball

GATOR OF THE YEAR » Melvin Ford was named the Sage men’s basketball Gator of the Year on Monday for the 2015-2016 season.

The Voorhees, N.J. native was a Skyline Conference first-team selection after averaging 12.8 points and 10 rebounds per game. Ford finished his career as the school’s all-team leading rebounder with 733 boards and is third alltime in points with 976.

Ford helped lead the Gators to four Skyline Conference tournament­s, a Skyline Conference regularsea­son title in 2014-2015 and the program’s first Division III NCAA Tournament bid during a 23-5 campaign in the 2014-2015 season.

Women’s Basketball

GATOR OF THE YEAR » Sophomore forward Gen Schoff was named the Gator of the Year on Monday for the 2015-2016 season.

The Little Falls, N.Y. native led the Gators to a Skyline Conference regular season title and a Skyline Conference tournament runner-up in a 21-6 season. Schoff averaged 15.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, while setting a school record with 132 free throws.

Schoff was a first-team Skyline Conference selection and has scored 636 points in two seasons at Sage.

Albany Twilight League

WATERFORD NATIONALS 6, LIDS TEAM SPORTS 0 » Ryan Ensel tossed a completega­me shutout to lead Waterford to a 6-0 win over Lids Team Sports on Sunday.

Bill Kelts led the Nationals with a solo homer, while Nic Schwab was 2-for-3 at the plate.
