NOPIATES RALLY: Join the NØpiates Committee on International Overdose Awareness Day in Albany, at the West Park Steps of the Capital Building on South Swan Street between State Street and Washington Avenue, on August 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The NØpiates Committee is committed to raise awareness and discuss the devastation that the prescription drug and heroin epidemic has had on our communities. The movie will be preceded by a meet and greet with local firefighters, police, and emergency medical personnel. OCTAGON BARN STAR PARTY: Join the Dudley Observatory for an astronomy lesson and dark sky observing at the Octagon Barn in Delanson from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The program includes a one lecture on Planetary Science by Dr. Heather Watson (Union College), followed by night sky observing if the weather is clear. p.m. for a special presentation on trees by Clarence Fountain, Certified Arborist and Schenectady County Master Gardener. He will explain how to identify the different varieties, how to care for them and the proper pruning technique, while providing an update on the diseases and pests currently affecting the trees in our area.
