EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. >> People ages 55 and older are invited to be part of a new active adult living community in Rensselaer County.

A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday for The Kensey on Elliot, a new apartment complex specifically for residents who meet the minimum age requirement.

Located at 50 Elliot Road, the community consists of 58 apartments with six unique floor plans, including one- and two-bedroom layouts. Each apartment features luxury finishes with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood-style floors, a washer and dryer and an outdoor balcony or patio. Units were designed with functional adaptions to meet requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and pet-friendly apartments are also available.

Created by Renssco Development Corp., The Kensey on Elliot was designed to offer a lifestyle experience to residents. The building features a variety of common spaces in an effort to create a myriad of social events and activities in which residents can participate.

“We envision The Kensey on Elliot as offering a unique portfolio of services and amenities to enable seniors to transition from homeowners to renters without feeling any loss of independence,” Brian Hart of Renssco Development Corp. said in a news release. “Our goal is to give our residents the feeling of living independently

with the cost-effectiveness and maintenance-free benefits of living in an active adult community.”

The property is managed by Paragon Residential Management of Green Island.

The idea is for residents to live worry- and hassle-free, with 24-hour surveillance, on-site property management and a reliable maintenance staff. The complex is being marketed as an ideal housing option for couples and singles who want to minimize the headache of homeownership without sacrificing the freedom of living independently.

As proud residents of East Greenbush, developers Don, Brian and Steve Hart had as their primary goal to deliver a luxury product to a market that has seen very little new development in more than a decade, the release said. Significant attention was paid to the functionality, amenities and design elements to not only attract residents but also to differentiate The Kensey on Elliot from existing complexes.

The Kensey on Elliot will host a grand opening event for the public to tour the community from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 313-3066 or visit www.TheKensey.com.
